Croker Island Exodus

April 1942. As Japanese fighter planes mount bombing raids on essential services, the women and children of Darwin are evacuated. On Croker Island 95 Aboriginal children are living under the care of three missionary women, the Superintendent and his wife. Through the long wet they also wait for government evacuation. But it doesn’t come. So the missionaries and the children embark on an exodus across the Australian continent. This is their story, in their own words – a heroic and untold journey.
